3 Hairstyles in Under 5 Minutes!

If you have long hair, you know that it looks great down, maybe with some waves or even just sleek and straight.

But, you also know, that there are times when it just won't work to wear it down (for example, running around all day with an infant and/or toddler). Unless you want your hair splattered with food and spit up, not to mention, pulled at all day, putting it up is your only option.

Then, there are also times when you want a more professional, pulled together look. It's hard to come across as a woman in charge, when you are shedding hair all over the conference table.

*This hair slide is available on Etsy.

The hair slide is ideal for both situations. The best thing is that this hair accessory won't snag, break, or tangle hair. Just twist, braid, or bun hair into whatever style you like and insert hair slide.

Here's how I created the three looks in the pic above in under 5 minutes each:

Basic Updo Twist

1. Gather hair in low ponytail
2. Twist ponytail, moving hair upward as you twist
3. Once you reach the top of your head, continue twisting and fold hair back down
4. Insert hair stick into first hole on hair slide piece
5. Push hair stick under twist and as close to scalp as possible
6. Layer slide piece over twist and thread stick through final hole

French Braid/Twist Combo

1. Loosely french braid hair about halfway down the back of your head
2. Gather remaining hair and twist upward toward where braid stops
3. Hold twisted up hair and french braid securely with one hand while you use the other hand to place the hair slide.
4. Insert hair stick into first hole on hair slide piece
5. Push hair stick under twist and as close to scalp as possible
6. Layer slide piece over twist and thread stick through final hole

Basic Updo Twist with Braided Strands
1. Take small sections of hair and braid (you may want to use small rubber bands to hold braids together)
2. Gather hair in low ponytail
3. Twist ponytail, moving hair upward as you twist
4. Once you reach the top of your head, continue twisting and fold hair back down
5. Insert hair stick into first hole on hair slide piece
6. Push hair stick under twist and as close to scalp as possible
7. Layer slide piece over twist and thread stick through final hole

This hair slide will work with so many styles. These are just a few basics. You can really get creative with braids. You can also put hair in a bun, or half up.

To get the best hold from the hair slide, the most important part is to insert stick through one side of slide piece, first. Then push stick through hairstyle, getting as close to scalp as comfortable. Next, position slide on top and insert stick into remaining hole in slide.
